Advanced Industrial Chemistry
supplies unique gas chromatographic detectors based on
the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) which
provides a reliable and robust plasma source for gas
chromatography detectors. The DBD uses high voltage
alternating current to generate a plasma which is
non-thermal (no electric wear), operates at elevated
pressures and can be operated with pure gasses instead
if helium blends. As a result of these features,
the DBD plasma is an ideal ionization source for Gas
Chromatography.
Using the DBD plasma we build a
helium ionization detector (HID), an argon ionization
detector (AID) and a non-radioactive electron capture
detector (ECD). We also build a photo ionization
detector unique to the industry.

DBD Helium Ionization Detector (HID)
Using the DBD Plasma
the HID detector will measure all components
except neon.
- Principally used to
measure fixed gases such as hydrogen,
oxygen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide
and carbon
dioxide.
- Excellent for
measuring hydrogen and other fixed gasses at
the same time.
- End user must have
chromatography that isolates the
constituents of interest from the rest of
the
matrix in order to get good
quantization. Capable of measuring sub-p.p.m
levels of constituents
with relative ease.
- No need to re-plumb
you lab or your GC to get reliable low-level
fixed gas analysis.

DBD Argon Ionization Detector (AID)
Using the
DBD Plasma the AID uses pure argon gas as the
reaction gas to measure compounds with
ionization potentials below 11.5
- Principally used to
measure inorganics with IP's between 10.2
and 11.5 such as ammonia, phosphine,
arsine
and COS.
- No window means
excellent sensitivity.
- Excellent for
measuring trace amounts of organics such as
BTEX.
- Uses pure argon at a
very low flow, not a blend.

DBD
Electron Capture Detector (ECD)
Using the
DBD Plasma, the electron capture detector uses a
small flow of dopant to create a standing
current within the detector. This detector is
extremely sensitive to electron capturing
compounds such as polychlorinated hydrocarbons, viscinal diketones and disulfides.
- Principally used to
measure polyhalogenated hydrocarbons.
- Picogram detection
limits for many compounds.
- Uses a small flow of
hydrogen or nitrogen dopant to generate
standing current.
- Uses existing ECD
electrometers.

Photoionization Decetor (PID)
AIC builds a unique and innovative PID in the GC
industry.
- Principally used to
measure organic compounds and is
traditionally the detector of choice for
BTEX analysis.
- Uses sealed lamps
with various energies to ionize the
constituents of interest.
- Unique AIC design
reduces lamp wear and improves lamp
lifetime.
